Benefits Of Drinking Water

January 1, 2010

There are many different types of liquid refreshments in the world.  Many different commercials touting the need to that particular liquid to hydrate you and provide you with the energy you need to keep going.  The question is, what happened to water?  Water has been around for centuries and has all of the natural nutrients our body needs for continuing on.  In fact, our bodies are actually setup to digest and assimilate water a lot easier than it can the so called sports or energy drinks.  We get more benefits from water than those other drinks.

Science has shown that our bodies consist of 75% water and our brains have 90% water.  With all of this water in our bodies it seems like a no brainer that we should drink water.  But we have gotten away from that and when we do drink water, we do not drink enough to properly hydrate us.

Drinking the correct amounts of water will help us to lose weight.  Often when we think we need food, all we really need is water.  Drinking water when we feel hungry will often take away the desire for food.  It will also help with our digestive processes.  Water will  stimulate our skin and make it look healthier and younger.  Water will help to flush out our body and the waste products contained in it.  You also feel better when you drink the correct amounts of water.  When you feel better and happier, your body continues to promote good health.  It is a continuing cycle of good health.

To get the correct amount of water is going to require a mental change.  We really should drink 8 – 12 glasses of water per day.  Another rule of thumb would be to drink ½ ounce of water for every pound of body weight.  If you count actual water consumption in a day, I think you will be surprised at how dehydrated you really are.
