Acne for some is just the natural transition of childhood to adult. You may not be likely to hear a lot about home remedies for acne like in the 50′s and 60′s. The reason for that is the very ingredients in most acne medication found in stores is based on natural and homeopathic remedies discovered or handed down through generations. The convenience of buying instead of making a remedy for some people may seem pretty far fetched, but the answers are still out there, and many of these acne home remedies really do work as well as many store bought medications.
Peppermint is one of the leading remedies for acne. Peppermint has been used in home remedies for many ailments for hundreds of years and it is also found in some acne medications. To create your own acne home remedy you first need to identify and obtain the herb in your garden, in the wild, or from a health food supply store. The first step is to crush the leaves. This can be done by using a pestle and mortar or just simply put it in your food processor and pulse until leaves are crushed and some juice has formed in the bowl. Rub some of leaves and juice on affected area and the menthol from the herb will help with pain and swelling because peppermint oil in this herb is a natural anti-inflammatory. Leave it on the area for five minutes and then rinse with cold water. You can repeat this as many times as you want, as long as your skin does not feel irritated.
Oatmeal is also a great home remedy for acne. Cook a single serving of oatmeal, you can use the microwave single serve, add one-fourth cup of honey stir and let cool to touch. When it is cool spread on face and leave it there for ten to twenty minutes. Rinse your face and you should feel the difference right away. Oatmeal is a natural exfoliate and toner.
Aloe Vera can be used for a lot of things and acne can be added to the list. Take one of the outer leaves off the plant and slice it open. Peel the skin off the inside and rinse the aloe gel under cool water. Make real sure the yellow stuff is rinsed off. Rub the aloe gel on acne spot. Aloe is not only an anti-inflammatory, but also a natural antibiotic.
With some of these natural home remedies for acne maybe your occurrences will be fewer. Remember to hydrate and be watchful of your diet. In some cases, the appearance of acne may just be your body not getting enough of the proper nutrients. As with any medical issue, if it becomes severe, check with your physician for other forms of treatment. Many cases of acne can be controlled with home remedies like those described here, but some forms of severe acne require more aggressive medical treatment that you can only get through your doctor.
