Homemade Juice recipes is a great way to get an abundance of the antioxidants that are good for your heart. Many studies conclusively show that those who eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables and/or drink fruit juices are considerably less likely to develop heart disease.
Apple Juice
One study discovered that apple juice can lower cholesterol. Participants with high cholesterol were given a daily 12 oz apple juice. After a few weeks the cholesterol levels of each participant had actually dropped by a few points. Another study also found that cloudy apple juice has a better effect at lowering cholesterol than clear apple juice.
Cloudy apple juice is created by juicing apple with their skins on. The skin of an apple is where most of its flavonoid and fiber content is found. (Flavonoids and fiber have both been independently researched to have cholesterol lowering effects.) Commercial apple juices are often pressed without the apple skins and also go through further filtering process. This creates a very clear, but much less nutritious juice. A freshly homemade apple juice, that includes the skin is going to provide the most cholesterol lowering heart health benefits.

You can use green or red apples, or even a mix. I actually juice the whole apple – the core, the skin, the pips, everything. The juice still tastes fine, and will be as nutritious as it can get!
Red Grapes
Red grapes contain a powerful heart healthy antioxidant called resveratrol. Also abundant in red wine, resveratrol is considered a key ingredient in the famed heart health benefits of this alcoholic drink. Until now the only evidence of resveratrol’s heart protective quailties has been limited to animal and test tube studies. However, earlier this year, two independent research studies provided strong evidence that resveratrol is also very beneficial for humans. Volunteers who were given daily resveratrol supplements displayed as much as a 63% increase in the elasticity of their brachial artery. (The brachial artery is one of the main arteries that delivers blood to the heart.) Such an increase in elasticity had a consequent effect of lowering blood pressure. Artery elasticity is also inversely related to atherosclerosis – a condition that is a major contributer to heart disease.
Red Grape Juice Recipes
3 cups of red grapes
1 cup of blueberries
Wash grapes and blueberries thoroughly and juice. Blueberries are also a source of resveratrol, although at lower levels than grapes. Please note that it is important to use red grapes and not white grapes. White grapes contain very little resveratrol health benefits. Have fun with your juicer recipes
